FAQ’s

Where does your milk come from?

We partner with DeVor Dairy Farm & Creamery, sourcing our milk from their small herd of grass-fed Jersey cows in Kalkaska, Michigan (30 miles from our creamery). During the winter months, “The Girls” enjoy a diet of baled hay from the farm.

Is your cheese raw or pasteurized?

We make our cheese from non-homogenized, fresh milk that’s been gently pasteurized at a low temperature to maintain flavor nuances and nutritional benefits while ensuring safe consumption. As a result our cheese can be enjoyed by everyone, including pregnant individuals.

Is your cheese vegetarian?

Yes! While we are dedicated to traditional craft cheesemaking, we’ve found that modern vegetarian rennet and enzymes produce high-quality cheeses indistinguishable from those using animal-sourced options. Vegetarians, rejoice!

Do you ship?

Not yet, but we’re working on it! While ordering and shipping through our website isn’t currently available, you can order online through Sara Hardy Farmers’ Market for local pickup in Traverse City each Saturday.
